INTRODUCTION
Proper program development is critical to the successful use of thread milling on N/C
machining centers. The following material is intended to be of assistance in preparing the
programs for the use of thread mills. For those programmers already familiar with this
material, it may serve as a helpful aid in explaining the sequence to others.
The first two sections are of special importance to achieve maximum tool life. Read and
understand these concepts prior to using thread mills in an application. Adjusting the feed rate
via circular interpolation and circular approach (more popularly known as
"ramping") is imperative for proper use of any type of thread mill. |
